Top 7 Tips for Getting Repeat Website Traffic
By Jinger Jarrett on Oct 15, 2008 in Building Traffic
Getting visitors to return to your site is easier than getting new visitors to your site. For those who have already visited your site, they’re familiar with who you are. If you want your current visitors to return, then there are some things you need to do.
1. Offer constantly updating content.
If your site doesn’t change once in awhile, your visitors have no reason to return. Write new content like product reviews and articles. Try to add something new on a regular basis. If you own a blog, you’ll want to write more often.
For those who don’t have time to write new content, adding RSS feeds and dynamic content will give your visitors something new. What’s good about dynamic content is that once you set it up, you don’t have to constantly add to it.
2. Switch up your product offerings.
If you sell your own products or services, add a new product or service. Offer specials on your current products or services. Add an affiliate program offering that complements what you already sell.
For affiliate marketers, expand your affiliate offerings. Look for new affiliate programs to join and mix up your offerings with memberships and ebooks with different price points.
3. Give site visitors incentives for opting into your list.
Although I’ve often written about offering a free report or a newsletter, you also have other options.
Discounts and special offers exclusively for your readers and customers will not only increase your income but help you build your list. Coupons and freebies not offered anywhere else are also good incentives.
4. Let visitors bookmark your site.
Adding a button that allows your visitors to bookmark your site helps both of you. With the right button, your visitors build your backlinks for you. It also allows you to give your visitors options by allowing them to use bookmarking services they are already subscribed to.
5. Use a tell a friend script.
I mentioned this one in one of my other articles, but it’s definitely worth repeating. A tell a friend script will allow you to multiply your traffic. Give your visitors a good incentive for referring others to your site. Over time, this type of traffic grows.
6. Offer an appropriate privacy policy.
In fact, this applies to all of your policies. Your visitors want to know their names and emails won’t be sold if they join your lists. They want to know that their credit card information is protected. Provide the appropriate policies on your website to make your visitors feel comfortable.
7. Create a FAQ.
A FAQ is a list of frequently asked questions. Over time, you will find that your visitors readers and customers tend to ask the same questions. Provide ready answers to these questions. It’s valuable content for your site, and it also keeps you from answering the the same questions over and over.
Give your visitors good content and freebies, offer them special offers they won’t find anywhere else, and you’ll build a loyal following of visitors who return to your site again and again.
