Why Some So Called PDA Bargains Are Really Not A Bargain At All?

It seems that nearly everyone who buys a PDA either brags about how much they spent or what a bargain they got. While it is true that many PDAs are very expensive and some are cheaper, there are some bargains that you could do without altogether.

One of the most telling factors when it comes to the price of a PDA is its name brand. All the major name brands will cost more than the lesser known ones. However, there are several popular brands that are not as expensive that work just as well, depending upon how you intend to use your PDA.

Most people who can afford it would like to have a brand new PDA. They would not think of anything less. This is usually quite pricey, but there are ways to get a bargain that will not leave them with buyer’s remorse.

Sometimes, computer stores will sell PDAs at rock bottom prices if they are discontinued models. If you are not one who feels the need for the latest up-to-the-minute technology, you might be able to find a PDA that will work perfectly well for the way you want to use it. These PDAs usually come with warrantees and probably have never been taken out of the box.

Because many PDAs are also mobile phones, cell phone companies will often offer a discount on these devices when you commit to a contract with their service. This is a good way to lessen the cost of a PDA, but only if you want to use that company’s services for the specified amount of time.

Of course, you can always try E-bay or some other internet outlet to find a used PDA. This is never a wise move. There is a slim chance that you will get a PDA that will work and provide you with all your needs without problems. However, it is more likely that the PDA will not work immediately or will show problems over time. What is more, there will be no warrantee to back up the workmanship of the product.

Other sources of used PDAs are from pawn shops and from friends. Pawn shops are notorious about selling items that do not work. Some of them will take nonfunctional items back if you return them immediately, but do not count on it. This is no way to get a PDA, and you never know what will be stored on a PDA gained in this way.

When you buy a used PDA from a friend, you are taking your friendship into your own hands. Your friend may have the best intentions, and you may be open to the idea that the PDA is a fine piece of equipment. Yet, if something goes wrong, there will be hard feelings on both sides. Better to buy a new PDA and spare your friendship the stress.

A PDA bargain is really a bargain when you get a working PDA that you can count on for a reduced price. There are several ways to go about it. Almost none of them include buying a used PDA.

Telephone Options: Cell Phones, VoIP, And Standard Phone Lines

Ah, the almighty telephone—if only Alexander Graham Bell were here to see what has become of his wonderful invention! If it wasn’t amazing enough to be able to communicate by phone in the first place, now we’re doing so wirelessly from practically everywhere.

Take a quick moment and realize how cool that is! It’s actually really amazing when you think about it! A decade or two ago, no one would have believed that every man, woman and child would have their own portable phone, but now they do!

But it doesn’t end there; now cell phones are taking over to the point where many people are canceling their standard phone service! And others, yet, are turning to their internet connections for phone service as an alternative!

Just like every technology that is on the fast rise and changing so quickly, the era of modern telephone tech is starting to confuse the masses. Let’s demystify your options quickly.

We’ll look at each type of phone you can have, which ones are good, and which to ditch!

Standard Phone Lines

Standard phone lines used to be the only kind you could have. Another term used to describe a standard phone line is “a land line.”

Standard Phone Advantages:

* Call Quality is Most Consistent Compared to other Phone Line Types

* Easiest To Use to Make Basic Calls

* No Complications or Added Features to Get in the Way

* Free Nationwide Long Distance is Often Offered

* Works during Power Outages

* No Need To Recharge Phone Batteries, if Cord Phone is used

* Harder to Lose Than Cell Phones

* Always Works Indoors

* Has Been Around Longest Thus Most Developed Technology

* Easy to Find Service and Phones Anywhere

* Useful in Home-Based Emergencies (less worries about dead batteries)

* Fewer Dropped Calls than Cell Phones and VoIP

* Better Customer Service than Cell Phone Providers

Standard Phone Disadvantages:

* Can’t Use Outside Home (except perhaps in yard)

* No Extra Features Like Text Messaging, Internet Access, Games, etc.

* Can Be an Extra Unneeded Cost When Also Using Cell Phone

* More Likely To Receive Telemarketing Calls in the Middle of Dinner

* Do Not Usually Have Built-In Address Book

* Not Generally Blu-Tooth Compatible

Cell Phones

Cell phones are quickly becoming as popular, if not more, than standard phone lines. Many people have struggled with whether they should still keep a standard phone line or not if they have a cell. There are valid arguments for and against this mindset. To decide, have a look at the advantages and disadvantages of cell phones.

Advantages of Cell Phones:

* Portable, Work Almost Anywhere

* Have Extra Features like Text Messaging, Internet Access, Games, etc.

* Have Built-In Address Book Standard

* Blu-tooth Compatible Standard

* Helpful in Emergencies outside the Home

* Keep in Touch with People When Not Home

* Better Call Quality than VoIP

* Have Been Around Longer than VoIP

Disadvantages of Cell Phones:

* Don’t Always Work Indoors

* Quality Not Consistent

* Dropped Calls

* More likely to be Lost or Stolen

* Fraudulent Charges on Bill More Likely

* Lower Quality Customer Service than Land Lines

* Have Not Been Around as Long as Land Lines = Less Developed Technology

VoIP Phone Lines

VoIP (voice over internet protocol) are internet-based phone lines. They are the newest, weakest and least popular technology in the current telephone industry. The future is bright, however, especially as internet speeds and reliability increase, and the advent of “internet everywhere” draws near.

Advantages of VoIP Phone Lines

* Often Less Expensive than other Phone Lines

* Free International Communication is offered

* Useable anywhere there is Internet Access

* Work Better At Home than Some Cell Phones

Disadvantages of VoIP:

* Lower Call Quality Reported

* Dropped Calls Most Common Among All Telephone Types

* You Must Share Your Internet Bandwidth with the Phone

* New and Under-developed technology (Arguably in a Beta Stage)

It is recommended not to use VoIP as an alternative to any other type of phone at this time. VoIP is probably “the future,” as mentioned previously, but is not ready to be your primary phone line just yet. International callers and certain business people will find them useful, but they are not recommended for the masses as of now.

You should not consider getting phone service through your cable or internet service provider as an alternative to cell phones or land lines. VoIP, as a supplemental phone line is fine, however.

Writing Effective Emails

You have joined a great business and you want to create a downline to make it a success. Or you have found something that you believe will interest a good majority of the web users.

You make your decision to begin a mass emailing campaign. Have you got what it takes to write an email and get the replies flying in?

Most of us send out emails almost every day we do it so often with out even thinking about it, as a result they are often written and sent out less than perfect and fail to produce the desired result.

The purpose of sending out mass email is usually intended to attract visitors to view a website rather than make a sale, therefore it is important to take your time and define your aim precisely before writing the email.

Keep it simple and brief; avoid using long or technical words as some people may not understand them. Do not use three words where one will suffice. If the email is long and full of waffle boredom will set in and without a doubt it is likely to be deleted before reaching the end of it.

The opening paragraph is vital. If it does not click with the reader right away you have wasted your time sending it.

Even the best writers spend time editing and rewriting their article or email.

Start with an eye catching headline. It might be a question or statement. You must grab their attention right away. Look at it from your readers point of view, is it forceful enough or exciting to make you want to read on and discover the end result?

Headlines hook prospects and lead them to the next line. There you start to build their interest to ensure they read the next sentence… and each subsequent one.

You might even find it is worth offering a free gift or a monthly newsletter that would help their business. There are plenty of free e-books on the web that you can give away.

If the intention of your email is to make a sale then offer a guarantee or a full refund this should dispel any fears they may have.

A cheeky way to test out your email is to send it to a couple of friends who are interested in business, add a message at the end of it and ask them to email you.

If you don’t receive a reply then you know your email was discarded before they reached your message, it is then a good idea to edit your email and remove any unneeded text.
