Find Recipes, Cooking Shows, Restaurant Listings And Much More!

It’s really incredible the amount of information available online nowadays, you really can find anything your heart desires. The best place you can go to is a search engine, these engines allow you to search directly for what you want by using keywords, or you can also pick categories and subcategories on their websites to find what you want. I’m a big foodie freak, mainly because I’m a Chef, so I’m always looking for new recipes online, and adding new ones I make to my own websites such as cooking light, cooking healthy, holiday recipes, gourmet, grilling, etc. I also like to find cooking shows online that I may have missed on TV like Top Chef, which if you search for can be found online not only to see when it’s on next but to actually watch it on your computer! And once in a while I find myself going to these search engines to find things like restaurant names, locations, phone numbers, etc.

Any of the above and so much more are available to you quickly, easily, and most important conveniently! I think that those are probably the top 3 reasons people even bother to use search engines to begin with instead of calling information or looking in a phone book. And besides information went up a dollar over here! Yep, it’s now over a dollar to ask someone to find a piece of information for you that you could find for free (technically) on your own! Don’t worry, I say technically because you are paying for your Internet, not because you have to pay these search engines! The day it actually costs money to use a search engine, is the day I will actually keep my phone book!

These search engines are really quite simple to navigate, just go to the search engine you like, put in the keyword you want, and get the results. Or as said above, they also may ask you to refine your search results, which is nice because then you can say okay I want a restaurant located in Naples Florida, but I want it to be on Sea Gate Drive because I’m going to be in the vicinity and will want to grab lunch. So just enter in that easy info and voila, results! If you are really lucky you may just go to an engine and they asked for the type of restaurant you want such as eat in, dine out, delivery, etc. Or the type of food the restaurant serves such as Italian, French, Japanese, Mediterranean, etc.

All in all these sites are perfect for just about anything you want to find on them. It doesn’t necessarily have to do with food, it can deal with any of the other zillion and one things you might be searching for such as electronics, jobs, finance, sports, health, computers, etc! Need to rent a car? Go to travel. Looking for a Dentist? Go to health. Want to know where the nearest salon is? Go to beauty! Yea, it really is this easy. Just think about what category it would be in and you are good to go! Good luck!

New And Interesting Search Engines Of 2008

We all know about the Googles and the Yahoo search engines by now, but once in awhile I like to use something a little more interesting and a little less cliche. Sure Google and Yahoo are nice search engines within their own rights, but if you are looking for particular things you might just enjoy the ones listed below. The first one is a regular search engine like Google but it also includes a lot of nice written content, which gives it a nicer feel than Google with its tons of ads and all that annoying stuff. The second one is a music search engine, you can enter in an artist or band name and it will come up with a chart sort of like a “6 degrees of separation” type of thing. And the last one is cool as well, and its very user-friendly which I think is something we all enjoy! So let’s get on to the engines so I can tell you a little more about them.

Find - When I first heard of this engine all I kept hearing was the business side of me going “wow now that’s a great domain name” and it is, but more than that it’s also a terrific engine where you cannot only just search but you can also find out information about certain subject. For example, if we go to Electronics, we will see a few extra subcategories to choose from such as Bluetooth Headsets, Cellphone Cameras, Cellphones & Home Theatre Systems. Now if you click Bluetooth you will be given a little summary of what Bluetooth is, how its used, what its functions are and much more. But as said above you can also use this as a search engine, by placing whatever you are looking for in the search box and pressing “find”. I did a search for money, and results that were relevant to money showed up. Very easy to use, minimal ads means minimal annoyance, and its got a nice user-friendly template as well!

Like - This is a great visual type search engine. Its like Google images except you can actual find items to buy just by doing a visual image search for those items. For example, if I go to the shoe image I can then, refine the results with subcategories such as boots, casual, sandals, etc. It will visually show you which kinds of shoes are in those categories. Ya, this is a terrific engine to use for any of your shopping adventures online! Once you find a shoe you like, simply click it, and it will then open a new page with the website that shoe is on for example, Nike, Zappos, DSW, Shoe mall. Oh and you can really refine your search with more options than just the type of shoe, or the type of shirt, you can also pick other options such as color, brand, material, and site. So this is really useful and fun if you want to shop online but don’t want to visit 50 thousand websites looking for just two items. It’s a time saver pretty much.

Cuil - The people who own Cuil say that it’s the largest search engine on the web today, honestly I don’t know how true that is considering I have never heard of it and no one I know has ever heard of it. Cuil is a mixture of a nice interface, a great looking template and easy to use features such as roll over definitions, tabs and a nice navigation system which is actually being used by a lot of search engines these days. You simply type in a few letters of what your looking for and it will show a downward menu of some suggestions, which in turn saves you time and helps you out. I don’t usually use mine for things like eBay or the Steelers website because, hello, I already know those links very well. However, I do use it for other things such as “buy forum.” and then it shows online, members, website, template, script, etc. Its pretty nice but its one of those things where you have to get used to it!

Obviously there are millions of engine showing up every single day but these are some of the ones that are being talked about in a very good way as of late. Everyone seems to enjoy these search engines, amongst many others because they all offer the same type of option (search) but they also are all different and all offer different things, different things that make them “cool” or easy to use or fun. I suggest checking the top three out, who knows they might become your number 1 engine! Have fun!

Search Engine Optimization SEO Top 10 Tips To Top Google

Search Engine Optimization services which are also known as SEO are needed to perform well in the search engines. More importantly finding a google search engine optimization services company is needed to rank in the most popular search engine itself. When trying to grab that top place, you need to focus on several factors. This article is composed of methodologies that are widely accepted by SEO professionals. These are arranged from most to least important from my personal, yet educated opinion. This was actually stated by google in their own publications.

Search Engine Optimization Link Popularity
Your sites link popularity is the main and most important factor when trying to improve your SEO campaign. You must focus on obtaining inbound links from quality and relevant sites. Several methods are submitting to link directories, reciprocal linking, article distribution, video blogging, forums and social bookmarking.

Using Keywords In The Meta And Title Tags
Second on our list is placing your keywords you are trying to obtain top rankings for within your title, description meta tag and keywords meta tag. In google SEO, your title tag only allows 8-9 words within the title tag for their search engine results. So limit yourself to 9 words (use as many as possible) and then move forward.

Time Your Web Site Has Been Indexed
Something that the search engines have placed a lot of emphasis on is “sandboxing” new sites on the internet. On average this process takes 3-4 months to get out of. The longer that your site is online the more trusted your site will be to the search engines. Ideally I believe a site is going to benefit most when it has been consistently indexed for 2 years or more.

Anchor Text Of Inbound Links
Even if you have a large number of inbound links, they won’t do a lot of good if they aren’t linked with good anchor text. Anchor text is the actual text that is clickable within the link. Keep links around 3-5 words long. Many search engine optimization experts believe bolding your links will improve rankings as well.

Link Popularity On Sub Pages
It is highly believed that sub pages within your web site must have inbound links and popularity for your entire site to succeed (including your home page). Even if you have a successful site right now, it could do even better with inbound links to sub pages.

Relevancy Of Inbound Links
Links coming to your web site must be coming from relevant sites with relevant content! This is extremely important.

Link Popularity Of Your Site Compared To Your Competitions
This is another seo factor that deems a lot of attention when it comes to google seo tips. You must make sure that you have comparable link popularity to your competition for certain key terms. Without comparable link popularity you simply won’t succeed as much as you want to.

Keyword Use In Your Pages Content
You must use your top key terms within the content of your web site. Certain key phrases can show tremendous growth by having the exact phrase within the content of your site itself. Google loves unique content and google loves relevancy.

How Popular Are The Sites That Are Linking To You - Are They Relevant?
Quality inbound links should also come from recognized or semi popular to popular sites. These sites must also have similar content to your topic. If they come up high under your key terms, they are a great site. You should try to obtain links from these web sites.

Using Good Tools To Help With Search Engine Optimization or SEO?
You must perform research of key terms. I use google’s keyword tool personally, however there are many out there. Also I recommend using SEO programs to analyze your competition.

Guide to Firefox Search Extensions

All of the time we needed to gather information from the net for different purposes we used an internet browser. Sometimes we know the exact sites to visit, sometimes we bookmark the pages but the most time is spent searching.

The Firefox internet browser is equipped with some great searching mechanisms and offers a few tricks so all your searching habits are known and thus you are provided with the best options very quickly.

Firefox offers a built in search box which is considered the real advantage of searching. This search box is located at the top right of the browser. By default Google is selected as expected. In addition several other search engine plugins are also included with a clean install; these include Yahoo!, Amazon, eBay, and others. To select a different search engine just click the drop down box and select the icon associated with a specific search engine.

New plugins for different search engines can be installed by clicking the Add Engines link. After this, you will be presented with a list of a few popular search engines, just click on one of your choice and conform the installation when prompted. The new search engine will be added to the drop down list and ready to use immediately. You can use the Mycroft website which is one of the best to find search engine plugins. The site is located at the mozdev site. All the plugins are listed by category for you to browse or you can simply use their search box to search for those hard-to-find sites that are not categorized. After you have located the plugin you wish to install simply click on it and it will be included in your Firefox drop down list of search engines. Really simple stuff. Firefox stores the last search engine used in memory so if your last used plugin was Yahoo and the browser is closed and reopened then Yahoo will be the selected search engine plugin.

When you have experimented with all of these plugins it is common for you to find yourself not needing so many. Sometimes they will clutter Firefox and interfere with your work in progress. To remove some of them all you need to do is locate the ’searchplugins’ folder and delete the SRC and GIF files for the plugin. After this you will need to restart Firefox.

You will find two files in Search engine plugins:
- a SRC file that lists the codes that tells Firefox how to use search terms for a specific site.
- a GIF file which contains the icon for a specific search engine.

The SRC and GIF files are by default located in the ’searchplugins’ subfolder of the Firefox installation directory. (Please do not confuse this with your Firefox user profile directory).
It is important to note that uninstalling and reinstalling will cause you to lose any additional plugins you added to Firefox from Mycroft or other sites.

How Search Engines Fight Spamdexing

Have you ever clicked on a recognizable name in an internet search and wondered how you ended up on some porn site? You were a victim of spamdexing, a deliberate, deceitful, and manipulative practice intended to give the wrong impression.

Spamdexing combines spam with keyword indexing in an attempt to trick search engines into listing their websites along with legitimate sites. Search engines use keyword indexing to locate and rank websites. They do this so that you can find websites that interest you rapidly and easily.

How do the spamdexers accomplish this?
They try to slip in under the radar by loading their pages with unrelated language. They will use keywords over and over again (known as keyword stuffing) and also add familiar names and trademarks that are not associated with their sites. Spamdexers also mask keywords and phrases by using an assortment of methods such as blending unrelated text into the background colors of web pages. You would not be able see these texts, but the trick can bamboozle the web crawlers that search engines utilize to list and rank sites. A porn site could imbed keywords and phrases appropriate to a popular site in order to draw in unsuspecting people. Even worse yet, a site designed to spoof a bank or any other financial institution can lure naive victims to their sham site, then steal private passwords and account information.

At the very least, spamdexing can cause search engines to be less useful, and even dangerous. The good news is that the major search engine developers have not only caught on to spamdexing, they have developed more sophisticated methods to combat the practice.

Without search engines, finding anything on the web would be next to impossible. To increase the rank of your website, search algorithms are used to add relevant keywords for the website. This process is known as Search Engine Optimization.

Spamdexing manipulates the index methods used by a given search engine. Practices that get you to the number one mark when you don’t belong there are called spamdexing. It is a kind of black hat technique. Professional SEO professionals do not spamdex, and those who do are banned and no longer considered to be professional. A search engine uses algorithms for their systems of ranking.

The algorithms show relevant search results, and not just relevant keywords. Any efforts to bamboozle these will result in being banned and your web page will also be removed.

Spammers also practice link farming. This is where links are connected to each other in fake blogs, for example, or by cloaking, where different versions of the pages crawled are sent to humans vs. spiders. Spiders crawl over web pages in order to locate keywords. Although, the use of these practices also results in these sites being banned and deleted, people are still using these methods.

The internet is a multilane super information highway, and spammers are the speed bumps. They slow down not only that search for porn, but also for other searches such as homework, shopping, cooking, etc. Spamdexers can earn more in one week than some wage slaves do in a month, and they cause major interferences with honest hard, working advertisers.
